Hermosa Beach

We have been really fortunate to have a summer full of adventure.  We've gone on six vacations since May and have had visitors come to see us.  Our most recent vacation was back to Los Angeles where Matt has been working.
We took a day and spent some time at Hermosa Beach.
It's a great beach with lots of fun shops, a great boardwalk and the perfect sand and tide.
The kids dumped their stuff and ran straight to the water.
It was funny because they were each a bit hesitant at first.  They weren't sure what the temperature of the water was.
Abi would run as fast as she could when the waves would get close to her.
Porter is our brave one who just got right in and realized the water was fine.
Tate has been to the ocean a couple times before but he's finally old enough to start having fun.
We decided to stand him up in the sand and see what he thought.
At first the water started to come in around his toes and he didn't seem to mind it much.
Then is really started coming in and it shocked him a bit.
He didn't cry at all but he lifted his body up out of that water as fast as he could!
Bridger saw Tate in the water and decided that he could get in too and that's when he started really having fun.
He would have daddy help him jump over the waves as they would roll in.
He did this for quite a long time and it was just as fun in the end as it was in the beginning.
Abi thought that looked pretty fun so she had to try it too.
She even started going under the waves and realized that was even better.
After a while she decided to do a little basking in the sun to dry off.
Porter was just kind of off in his own little world playing in the water and watching the waves roll in.
Bridger liked sitting in the water and the feeling of the sand tickling his legs.
He also liked feeling the sand moving under his toes.
That sensation never gets old!
Tate didn't "love" the sand but he would eventually sit in it without complaining.
Bridger finally decided it was time to get out when he got toppled over by a huge wave.
He was not happy about it AT ALL!  (And it's ironic that his shirt says"Big Wave"!)
Porter had so much fun playing in the sand.
I felt like I lost him for a minute but then I could hear him calling me from his giant hole that he was stuck in.
We sat on our blanket to dry off and Tate played games with mommy.
He has gotten so giggly and fun.
We saw the beauties of the ocean and the beach.
And we saw the dangers of the ocean and the beach - these poor people are going to come back to no lunch, even though we tried our best to shoo the birds off.
Overhead we saw lots of planes with banners and we even saw the Good Year Blimp overhead.
Although, the boys' favorite had to be the military helicopter with the guy sitting on the back.
It was a beautiful day with perfect weather and perfect memories.
