R.I.P. Tinkerbell

We had a sad day in May and that was Thursday the 24th.  Abi's little guinea pig Tinkerbell finally passed away.  She's been slowing up for a while now and we knew that she wasn't going to last too much longer.
She died right before Abi got home from school and Abi was devastated - to say the least.
(Sorry if the picture is too graphic for any of you.)  We found a large plastic Easter egg that was the perfect size for her coffin.
Abi was supposed to go to her piano lesson right after school but she was too sad.
She decided to make a tombstone for Tinkerbell instead and it was really sweet.
Luckily we were heading out to California that same day for the Memorial Day weekend so we took Tinkerbell and the tombstone there so the kids could be with Daddy when they said their final goodbyes.  Abigail cried half way to Los Angeles and it was heartbreaking.  The good news is that a few days of playing and being at the pool lifted her spirits tremendously and she was much better by the time we had to drive home.  Our last guinea pig, Brownie, had a bit of an adjustment to not having Tinkerbell around but I'm happy to say that she's back to her normal, squeaky self again.  :)  (AND NO WE ARE NOT REPLACING TINKERBELL...)

That's heartbreaking. Pets leaving us always very hard; do me a favor and tell Abi that little Tink might now be playing with my Shi-tzu Bandit(he was 14), who left in April. He was very friendly with guinea pigs. (: I'm very sorry she had to leave you all.
