Christmas morning was so much fun this year!
Our sneaky shelf elf, Melvin, tied off the top of the stairs so that the kids wouldn't go down and peek before Mommy and Daddy were awake.
He also gave each of them a little bad that had a lump of coal in it as a joke and Bridger did not think that was funny at all!
Matt and I finally got up and going (it was already 5:30am after all... geez, we totally slept in!) and the kids couldn't wait to tear down that ribbon and get downstairs.
Melvin had left them some notes explaining which presents were theirs.
They grabbed those notes and took off down to the Christmas tree.
They were shrieking with joy when they saw what Santa had left and they quickly went to work separating their gifts and each creating a pile for themselves.
Tate and Bridger both immediately noticed that Santa had eaten his cookies and Rudolph had spilled the sugar that they left for him.
Tate decided to eat the bits of cookie that Santa left behind.
They each had a full stocking of surprises as well.
Once they had all the gifts separated we took turns ripping into them. Tate loves to open presents!
Porter not only got his Legos but he also got a Lego Wii game which he thought was pretty cool.
Bridger got his Battle T-Rex.
Tate had all sorts of great surprises including this new bike from Grandma & Grandpa.
Abi got a great surprise from Santa but she was a bit sad to find out that she had not gotten her pogo stick. After letting her fret about it a bit, Daddy pointed out 3 tall presents back behind the tree and Abi quickly grabbed them.
It was a pogo stick for each of the older kids from Grandma & Grandpa! She was so excited! (She is so good on that thing too - she gets way up into the hundreds with her bounces!)
Matt got a new hedge trimmer.
And we can't forget his awesome shirt that Santa left him in his stocking! :)
I got a new black Kitchen Aide mixer that I couldn't wait to get my hands on!
Even the guinea pigs got a new edible log for Christmas.
As you can imagine, our house was pretty much a disaster by the end of the morning - but that's exactly how it should be on Christmas morning.
We had a yummy Christmas tree waffle breakfast and them got ready for our one-hour church meeting.
The kids looked great for church and Abi even got to wear her brand new Christmas dress.
It was really nice to be home this year because we didn't have to haul presents up and then haul even more presents home. It was also fun for the kids to be in their own beds and wake up to their own Christmas tree. We definitely missed all the time with our family that we usually get but it was fun to have our own little Christmas at home.
